Right in the middle of the north and south groups of Goa beaches, Bogmalo is one of the more exclusive beaches of Goa. The presence of two deluxe Goa hotel resorts attracts the well heeled, and the limited choice of cheaper options keeps the backpackers away. The beach itself is a small, palm fringed beauty, with ideal conditions for water-sports.

Thus it features some of the best water-sports facilities on any beach of Goa or India. Splash Watersports, Bogmalo Beach Park Plaza, Water-sports Goa (affiliated to ISSA) and Joet’s organize a host of water-sports.

Travel Attractions of Bogmalo Beach
The Naval Aviation Museum
The Naval Aviation Museum, 1 km from the beach sits atop a plateau overlooking the wide expanse of the Arabian Sea and Bogmalo Beach. On display are old aircraft used by the Indian Navy, along with naval armaments. A Jet Fighter simulator can be enjoyed by visitors and souvenirs bought from a small museum shop.

The Hollant beach
The Hollant beach, 2 km away offers beautiful views encompassing the main southern beaches of Goa, along with the foothills of the Western Ghats. The Goa beach resorts here have an excellent choice in restaurants and the cafes near the Park Plaza are also good. Seafood from the cuisine of Goa and India is a particular specialty.

Past Fishing Village, Today's Tourist Hangout
The village is still present at Bogmalo, complete with a tiny-whitewashed Chapel and gangs of hogs nosing through the rubbish, but its environs have been transformed. Pricey café-bars blaring Western music have crept up the beach, while the clearing below the hotel is prowled by assiduous Kashmiri handicraft vendors.

A Perfact Picnic Spot
Even so, compared with Calangute Or Colva, Bogmalo is still a small-scale resort. As long as one hasn't come to Goa to get away from it all or party all night, then one'll find Bogmalo congenial enough. The beach is clean and not too crowded, the water reasonably safe for swimming, and there are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. If, on the other hand, one is looking for somewhere not yet, on the package tourist map, one'll be better off further south, at the far end of Colva Beach or beyond.

Diving at Bogmalo
A small dive school recently opened up in Bogmalo and is one of the few places in India where one can do PADI-approved Open water diving courses. Operating out of Joet's guesthouse, at the far end of the beach, the British run outift also offers half day "Try Dives" for novices, guided dives to shipwreck sites and coral beds off the coast and tuition for more advanced qualifications.

Accmmodation at Bogmalo Beach
Bogmalo Beach Park Plaza offers rooms with sea-views and excellent facilities. All the 126 rooms of the Tulip Star Bogmallo Beach Resort (earlier the Oberoi Bogmallo, Goa), the only high-rise hotel on a Goa beach are sea facing (with attached balconies). It offers a mini casino amongst its facilities, one of the very few hotels in Goa or India to do so. Coconut Creek is popular with those who are on a cheap Goa holiday package tour. A couple of typically cheap Goa hotels offer limited rooms.

How to Get There
Road : Bogmalo can be reached by bus or taxi from Vasco da Gama, 8-km northwest. It's also near enough to the airport for a last minute dip before catching a plane.

Places to Stay
As this is primarily a package tour destination, walk in accommodation is very limited and best booked ahead. There are few luxurious option present over here, overlooking the beach. Bogmalo's other mid range guesthouses, are much more comfortable for short stay purposes.
