I know, since ages India is a country of Vedas, Ayurevada and Yoga and my creed become more strong as I went through number of books on Ayurevada. My search for Ayurveda reached its alpine heights and I couldn't help myself from visiting the Kottackal Arya Vaidya Shala at Kottackal in the South Indian State of Kerala. I read in the magazines that the institution is one of the initiatory institutions of Ayurveda not only in Kerala perhaps in the whole world.

I always wonder why only Kerala has become such a tremendous gateway to Ayurveda. As I landed in the Kerala City, I got the answer. The city is a perfect blend of an equable climate, natural plenteousness of forests with a wealth of herbs and medicinal plants, and the pleasant monsoon season that stock an absolute atmosphere for the practice of various therapies deep-seated in Ayurveda.

I had made a prior appointment at least 10 days from my taking up an Ayurveda tour with the chief physician, an extremely busy person.

He said me "Miss Moore, today itself we will be starting with you the treatment and the exercises". With all the doubts coming on my face he explained me in most courteous way about the Ayurvedic treatment, that through its unique approach towards healing Ayurvedic becomes special from most of the prevailing cures.

He also emphasized that the parameter of dealing with the ill and not the illness is central to all forms of Ayurvedic treatments. Rather than trying to prevent the ailment in solitude, Ayurveda takes into account an individual in his entirety. He further said that these Ayurvedic treatments could be proceeded only after examining the natural states of individuals. The physical vitality, sensitivity to diseases, emotional make-up and lifestyle of person is considered in harmony to the physical nature of the universe.

In my 7 days stay at the institution I explored the entire Ayurvedic research center, the nursing home as well as the hospital. I met the people from all over the world who were enduring various Ayurvedic therapies there. Their cheerful expressions confirmed beyond doubt that Ayurveda holds the nostrum to their ailments.

I can only say that my Ayurveda tour of Kerala was much more what I just thought about. It not only relieved me from my stressed life style but also made my trip a complete luxury holiday. I will definitely like to emphasize here that Kerala practices Ayurveda with absolute dedication, for those wishing to undergo Ayurveda therapies, Kottackal should be the first choice.
